The emissaries of abolitionist societies may poison the minds of single slaves here and there; they may induce them to run away from time to time; they may even play upon the feelings of individual slaves of less than ordinary intelligence or of uncommon viciousness until they are prepared for the commission of crime; but whether operating as spies in their ordinary way or whether combining for forcible measures as at Harper’s Ferry, they will not have the sympathy of one negro in fifty, whether slave or free.

Reform is necessary even more in the higher grades of public service. President, Vice-President, Judges, Senators, Representatives, Cabinet officers – these and all others in authority are the people’s servants. What we need to realize as African Americans is that the white man must be wiped out and taken care of once and for all. We’re already winning the race war and they know it. We’re winning and soon we’re gonna wipe these white motherfuckers off the face of the earth.

Their offices are not a private perquisite; they are a public trust.
